This year, we’re proud to celebrate another impactful season of our financial literacy workshops an initiative rooted in empowerment, education, and equity.
In collaboration with our trusted bank partners and local housing authorities, we’ve delivered a series of hands-on financial education sessions that are already making a difference in the lives of families and individuals across the region. One of our strongest community collaborations continues to be with Hammond Housing Authority, under the dedicated leadership of Ms. Lona Suttern, Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator.
Together, we’ve created accessible learning environments where residents can strengthen their financial knowledge and gain practical tools to build credit, reduce debt, create savings goals, and pursue homeownership.
Our sessions are led by the incomparable Vanesse Dabney, whose passion for financial empowerment and engaging teaching style have made her a favorite among participants. Her approach blends real-world financial strategies with compassion and cultural relevance, ensuring that every attendee leaves with knowledge they can immediately apply to their financial journey.
Throughout 2025, these workshops have reached dozens of families, sparked powerful conversations, and planted seeds of hope and change. From first-time budgeting to understanding credit reports, each class is a step toward long-term financial stability and independence.
We’re incredibly grateful to our partners, participants, and especially Ms. Dabney and Ms. Suttern, for making this mission possible. Here’s to continuing the work and expanding our reach in the months to come.
